Well, weeks of late night rehearsals are finally coming to fruition: last Saturday the Halloween cover band I was in (AKA: SupaRugby) played Monster Mash, Ghostbusters and Michael Jackson’s Thriller, with notable style and grace.
(Wanna watch Thriller? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_PAZh2SO5w)
Last night my Room-mates collaboration…thing, The Hawk and the Rumor (Part Part Musical, Part Band, part cover band, part prose machine…whatever it is), played with a stripped down version of my “real” band, St. Nathans Holiday.
Then tomorrow the full version of St. Nathans Holiday is playing with our dear friend Timbre (if you listen to mewithoutYou, Anathallo, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, or just really good music in general, you may have heard her).
I’m more excited for this show coming up than I’ve ever been excited for a show before. Things have really been coming together. We have two new songs to play for this show, one of which we wrote just last week, and Timbre is accompanying our band on harp and toy piano. Mel Woodall of Boston’s Colour is in town for the week and will be jumping on her fiddle for a couple songs…
Guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, upright bass, cello, toy piano, harp and percussion.
What a bunch of hipsters.
I’m super stoked.
But God, I’m tired too. Still, it’s worth it.
