Sometimes you just have to listen to Boards of Canada and try and figure out some way to explain and define Doctrinal terms (such as Salvation, Regeneration, Sanctification, Imputation, Glorification…) in words that don’t suck the life out of what are, in real life, really great things.
In theory: “Yay salvation!”
In reality: “Uh, well, salvation is when, y’know, you’re convicted by the holy spirit that you suck and need Jesus. Who’s Jesus? Oh, you want bible verses too?”
Gah. Just to blow off steam I spent an hour writing a short story about salvation for hipsters which I was seriously considering sending in (this is for a job application at a christian wilderness camp, see) but decided against. Unfortunately I also deleted it without saving it. Poor choice that; it was really great.
A total of five hours writing and writing and deleting and writing and deleting and writing and re-writing, I finally have a definition for “salvation” that I like.
And no, I’m not going to post it on here. Ever.
I had the next two done as well, but they’re going to have to be redone.
God, I haven’t had my nose to a grindstone like this in…well, realistically, probably two months at most. But I haven’t written this much in years.
Oh yeah! Did I mention, kiddo’s? My writing block is gone! 2011 is over and I’m back, apparently.
Twas an odd year.
Anyways, the story is, I was just sitting at Barnes and Nobles with some girl (not super important to me or anything. I mean, I barely like her. I’m no fool. Those are all lies.) having a conversation about art as worship, when all of the sudden I just knew I could write again and it would be like it used to be; effortless.
So I went home and wrote for three hours, and it was glorious.
My thoughts line up like pretty penguins by a pool, and dive onto the page one by one, squawking happily as the paddle into the formations they were intended to create.
MY BRAIN HAS AN OUTLET AGAIN.
Chyea. No more feeling crazy all the time.
Probably still getting rid of this tumblr though.
